i was watching a movie by one of the members of this board, i wont mention names... thier movie was well done, and fairly interesting and had a nice twist at the end.

    Roll the credits...

to my amazement they went on for ages... endless ammounts of crew members. How many people do you need to make a movie? Maybe its becos i tend to do everything myself becos im the only film maker i know, but i dont understand why simple movies made using camcorders need loads of crew members. He11 this movie had casting director and the actors werent even any good. Whats the piont i ask you?

Its happened a few times now that ive been watching a movie and i thought it was average to good and then the credits come along and you relise it took 30 people to make it, all the time youre assuming its 3 or 4 people at most.

I guess there isnt really a piont to this thread other than to document my shock having watched this movies credits.

i think it shows the filmmakers take collaboration seriously.

you have to be able to work with other people and not just on set.

I feel the same. When I started out, I was under the impression (especially on short films) that I would be doing pretty much everything myself. I have adjusted the way I think about that now - but I still wouldn't employ a casting director. I would much prefer to choose actors myself. Isn't that part of the fun?

This is my ideal bare minimum of crew

    Me!
    FIRST AD
    DOP
    GAFFER
    CAMERAMAN
    CAMERA ASSISTANT
    SOUND MAN
    BOOM OP
    RUNNER
    PRODUCTION MANAGER
    MAKE UP ARTIST
    WARDROBE MASTER
    PRODUCTION RUNNER

SO i guess for me to change a light bulb it takes me and twelve other people,

So what's the latest on Mortus Illumina, Chance? You've not been around these parts for a while...
